Curriculum

In S.N. Réalt na Mara we offer a wide and varied curriculum.

Our school delivers a broad and balanced curriculum in line with the Department of Education guidelines, encompassing English, Mathematics, SESE, Arts Education, Physical Education, SPHE and Wellbeing. This curriculum is designed to support the holistic development of every child by nurturing academic learning, creativity, physical health, social skills and emotional wellbeing. In recent years, we have proudly participated in the Modern Languages in Primary Schools Initiative, through which senior pupils have had the opportunity to learn Spanish, fostering communication skills, cultural awareness and confidence.

Religious Education also forms part of school life; we warmly welcome pupils of all faiths and none and participation in Religious Education is supported for those who wish to do so, in a respectful and inclusive environment that values diversity and mutual understanding.

We take great pride in providing our pupils with a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom. Through engaging projects, sporting events, and educational trips, our students can explore learning in practical and exciting ways. These experiences not only reinforce the work done in class but also help to develop teamwork, leadership, problem-solving skills, and a love of learning. By participating in these activities, pupils gain a deeper understanding of the subjects they study while also building confidence, resilience, and a sense of curiosity about the world around them.

The school places strong emphasis on pupil voice and active citizenship through the ongoing work of the Student Council and the Green Schools Committee, both of which operate each year. These groups provide pupils with meaningful opportunities to express their views, contribute to decision-making, and play an active role in school life. Through the Green Schools Committee in particular, children are encouraged to develop a strong sense of environmental awareness and responsibility, fostering a lasting respect for the environment and sustainable practices.
